I'm getting a warning from Instagram or TikTok when I click on my Linktree URL. What should I do?

You may occasionally receive error or warning messages when you click on your Linktree URL from within your Instagram or TikTok profiles.

Since these messages are from within the Instagram or TikTok apps, Linktree has no control over when or why it happens. If you need further assistance, you can try contacting Instagram directly via this form. If this issue is happening on TikTok, you can check the TikTok help center for additional assistance.

Tips to check if your Linktree is working

Presumably, these errors are put in place by the app creators to check the links in your bio and make sure they’re not a security risk, as well as prevent you from fabricating your profile stats by clicking your own link in your bio.

Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with your Linktree. These error messages are randomized and can happen to anyone - including non-Linktree users.

If these messages are preventing you from checking if your Linktree is working, you can try the suggestions below:

  1. Open your Instagram profile or TikTok profile in your internet browser (make sure you're not logged in). You'll be able to see your profile from the point of view of your followers. When you click on your Linktree URL, it should open as normal.

  2. Ask a friend to go to your profile to check if your link is working.
